Welcome to another feature on our Discover NC Homes blog, where we spotlight individuals making a significant impact in our community. Today, we’re introducing Barbara White, a pivotal figure in the St. James NEST organization.
Barbara, with her extensive 35-year legal career in New York and Connecticut, brings a wealth of knowledge to NEST. Since moving to St. James in 2015, she has been instrumental in ensuring the organization’s compliance and legal matters are in top shape. As a member of the Board of Directors and head of compliance, Barbara’s role is crucial in maintaining NEST’s integrity as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Her work involves managing federal and state law compliance, handling conflict of interest statements, and creating and revising policies, including the critical COVID policy. Barbara’s expertise extends to financial matters, ensuring tax returns and other financial documents are accurately filed.
Excitingly, Barbara shared about NEST’s upcoming SNAP (S N A P Action Plan) program. This initiative will assist members in organizing vital information for future planning, a testament to NEST’s forward-thinking approach.
Barbara’s dedication to NEST is not just about legal compliance; it’s about community. She sees her role as a way to contribute to the community spirit of St. James, working alongside volunteers who put their heart and soul into helping others.
Barbara’s story is a shining example of how professional skills can be leveraged to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, embodying the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors.
