Hello and welcome. This is Nolan with DiscoverNChomes. And I have Kate Ienna with me- one of our star brokers here. Kate, thank you for joining us.

Kate
Yeah, of course. Thanks for having me.

Nolan
Definitely. So Kate was actually very proactive and got her SRES designation which stands for Senior Real Estate Specialist. I wanted to have her here with us, very proud of her, and wanted her to talk about what that means and what the course was about because it is a special designation. She had to go for class to take it, a two day class. So, OK, one of the things we had been talking about: what is the age group that this SRES designation helps?

Kate
It is for 50 and above. Okay. And that’s the largest buyer and seller pool in the United States. That’s why I thought it would be a really great designation to get.

Nolan
Yes. And one of the things that you were telling me that you learned in there was, again, a very sometimes emotional process for folks because they’ve been where they are for so long.

Kate
Right. It’s usually a family home that they’re selling. So there’s a lot of emotional ties, more than another sale that someone would be dealing with.

Nolan
Yes, I know like with my parents, they spent 30+ years in their home. So for them, fortunately they moved down here, but that was a huge process and decision for them.

Kate
Right. And then just getting familiar with different doctors and things like that, which is very important to people in that age group.

Nolan
You’re very good at helping folks not from this area transition and also learn about the best medical things and whatnot down in the area. I know one of the other things you told me about was that this is financially a little bit different than folks moving for work, because sometimes these folks are retired, they’re they’re pulling from other assets. So that was another, I think, key part to this designation too, right?

Kate
Oh, definitely because it is coming from maybe their retirement fund or the sale of their home. So it’s just a little bit different, cause it’s a little bit tighter budget.

Nolan
And I think in general, we work with all ages of folks down here, but baby boomers are – and we’re still in the baby boomer bracket – are probably our biggest customers, buying and selling. So, I’m very happy to say that an agent, a broker in our office has this designation. So if you need any help, Kate is now an expert. We appreciate it, and Kate again, thank you for coming. And if you guys have any questions, my contact information will be here, Kate’s will be here, so please feel free to reach out.
